I have a couple of cardinals in my yard that are driving me and my cat nuts. The female never shuts her mouth and her chirp is so grating and piercing that I can’t sit on my back porch. It sounds like a ricochet of gunpowder pellets at a high decibel. My cat is miserable and meows. He can’t stand it and runs in the house to hide. The female tortures both of us and follows us closely. I went to my bedroom to read and the predatory stalker sat on a nearby branch outside my opened window and incessantly harped. My cat went to the opened kitchen window and the bird follwed him and kept harping. My husband is even heckled and has threatened to get a BB gun. The male follows the female but is not as verbal. I have no idea if or when the female eats, since she never shuts up and is constantly stalking. It is very eerie. I’ve never experienced anything like it. There must be a nest but, who the hell is hatching or feeding, I have no idea. The dastardly duo wake me up at 4:00 AM and the female doesn’t stop squawking until 8:30 PM. This behavior has nothting to do with the bird seeing it’s reflection. I thought the males were the territorial ones. THis female is insane.
I looked up the habits of cardinals and I found this. I could find nothing about the habits of the two cardinals in my yard. They are either alien or have been possessed by demons. This beautiful melody is nothing like what I am hearing.
